Right in the heart of the renowned Žatec hop-growing region, we are offering for sale the Baroque Milčeves Castle with its adjacent farmstead in the village of Milčeves (part of Žatec). The castle complex, with buildings totaling 12,372 m², offers versatile uses for both business and residential purposes. The well-preserved Baroque castle has two floors with a total floor area of 488 m² (including a 30 m² basement). The clean, cleared-out interior, with a 14+2 layout, provides complete freedom to complete the renovation exactly as you envision it. The ground floor features vaulted ceilings, while the upper floor has a flat ceiling. The ground floor has been used as office space to date, and together with the upper floor, it is ready for the completion of the renovation that has already begun. All windows throughout the building have been replaced with new wooden ones featuring shutters within the window frames, respecting the original spirit of the structure. Part of the farm buildings, with a total usable area of approximately 2,500 m², has already been completely renovated. It offers immediate potential for agricultural operations, storage, light manufacturing, livestock housing, or studios. The complex also includes a well-preserved Baroque granary, which, together with the manor house and the layout of the entire complex, forms a harmonious whole.

Electricity, private well, and water supply.

This relatively modern castle was built by the Černín family of Chudenice in the late Baroque style at the end of the 18th century. During the 19th century, it was converted into apartments and administrative offices for the farmstead, which was part of the extensive Černín estate in Krásný Dvůr. The farm complex is also likely of modern origin, dating from the late 18th century, but built on older foundations, having once served as the agricultural outbuildings of the original medieval fortress. During the land reform, the complex became a residual estate, which after 1945 was transferred to a state-owned farm. In the 1990s, as part of the restitution process, it passed into private ownership and is currently used as a private residence.

The manor house, situated in the northern part of the farm complex, is a two-story brick building with a rectangular floor plan and a facade divided by corner pilasters and a banded cornice between the stories. The entrance to the building is covered by a mansard roof supported by Tuscan columns; the facade above it is dominated by a Baroque gable. The gable wall is adorned by a two-story risalit with a mansard roof and a projecting Baroque double-flight external staircase. The building, which has three bays on the gable walls and seven bays on the long walls, is covered by a half-hipped roof. Flat vaults have been preserved on the ground floor. Adjacent to the manor house is a farmyard with additional farm buildings arranged in a U-shape and a separate granary. This former hot-air hop-drying facility, with its original coal-fired furnaces, is a unique technical monument that enhances the appeal of the Milčeves manorial estate as a whole. Since 1964, the castle complex has been protected as a cultural monument.


Thanks to its mild climate and fertile soil, the agricultural and industrial landscape of the Žatec region has been shaped by a tradition of hop cultivation spanning more than 700 years; it is known primarily for producing the world’s most renowned variety, Žatecký poloraný červeňák. Its exceptional status is confirmed by its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

There are also many cultural monuments in the surrounding area. Right in the town of Žatec, the Gothic-Renaissance townhouses, the synagogue, and the town hall tower are worth mentioning; for beer lovers, there is the Renaissance malt house and the Temple of Hops and Beer. This heart of the region, with its historic center and unique 19th-century industrial suburb, boasts the world’s largest concentration of hop-related buildings (warehouses, drying houses, packing facilities, and certification stations). The cultivation of “green gold” has shaped the character of the entire area, from its distinctive architecture to the local tradition of the hop harvest festival, known as the Žatec Harvest Festival.

It takes less than an hour by car to reach Prague and less than half an hour to reach the German border. The town of Žatec offers a full range of amenities.
