Šumava
- a place that will captivate you

Project location

Wild Šumava - paradise on Earth

Šumava National Park is the largest forested area in Central Europe, which is why it is also called the lungs of Europe. Many visitors come here repeatedly with their respiratory problems, and children are sent here for convalescent stays. Šumava is one of the best preserved Czech mountain ranges with unique natural sites and animals. You will find here glacial lakes, Prášilské and Laka lakes, the Prášilský brook and the Křemelná brook with its peat bog habitats.

The Poledník lookout tower will give you views of the region, which will also reveal the Alps if the weather is suitable. The hiking trails and the ever-growing cycle paths will reveal the beauty of the Šumava forests and connect you with other natural places in Šumava and the Bavarian Forest. It's a mushroom picker's paradise, whether you discover true mushrooms, foxgloves or huckleberries or the blueberry bushes and magical red cranberry patches that bend under the weight of their berries.

About the village Prášily

The mountain village of Prášily is one of the most exceptional localities in the Czech Republic. It covers 11,233 hectares of the Šumava National Park in the midst of deep forests and untouched nature and is immediately adjacent to the Bavarian Forest. The extensive forest areas, meadows, watercourses and lakes provide a home for many endemic plants and animals, as well as for countless animals and plants that have become extinct in normal locations. The absence of light smog, the quiet, clean air and excellent drinking water enhance the overall experience of this part of the Bohemian Forest. The village itself is situated at an altitude of 880 m.

In Prášily you will find basic civic amenities. In addition to the municipal office, information centre, post office, mountain service or fire brigade, there is a supermarket, a confectionery, a renowned inn and a sports ground. In summer, the cycling trails connecting the village with Železná Ruda, Srni and other localities are used, in winter there are cross-country skiing trails.

History of the village Prášily

The history of this area goes back much further than the guidebooks. There are written records of glassworks that existed here 300 years ago, and about 200 years ago there was a paper mill in Prášily that supplied handmade paper for the presidential office. During the First Republic, the village was a renowned tourist destination comparable to Spindleruv Mlyn in the Giant Mountains. At that time Prášily was a village with a predominantly German population. After World War II, the Germans were expelled and the site was closed to the public as one of the military areas. Perhaps that is why the area has retained its unspoilt appearance. Extensive forest cover, meadows, peat bogs, two glacial lakes, streams and brooks offer an unforgettable relaxing stay. And the village of Prášily provides a pleasant background in this wilderness.

Nowadays, Prášily has once again become a very valuable place in Šumava. Apart from sports and recreational activities, you will be enriched by trips to the surrounding area and to Bavaria. The pedestrian crossing is about 6 km away from the village, the closest crossing for cars is in Železná Ruda.

Location

Prášily and surroundings

The LAKA LIVING project is being built on the site of a former military company. In the village of Prášily, the construction of new buildings is minimal and everything can only be built on the sites where the original houses were located. Therefore, this is a unique opportunity to acquire a luxury apartment in the locality.

To replenish your food supplies, a trip to the town of Susice with its famous small shops is ideal. It's also nice to go shopping in Bavaria, which you can combine with other attractions in the region.
