We offer for sale a family residence on its own private land with garden and parking in the heart of Prague in Lesser Town near Čertovka, in the neighborhood of Kampa Park. Away from the busy streets of Malá Strana and yet in the heart of the capital, this ancient house provides exceptional living. The mansion was built on Renaissance foundations, which are preserved and restored in the underground part of the building, since then there have been many reconstructions with modern modifications.
Originally Renaissance, then Baroque (Baroque central passage and restored gates) and then Classical-style, the house stands on the site of the former Lazarus Garden, which was enriched in 1613-1617 by a house that probably formed the core of the present building. A major reconstruction of the internal layout took place in 1953-1954. From Hellichova Street, the house is entered through the main entrance, through a restored historic gate. Behind the glass vestibule is the lounge, which is connected to the left side with the dining room (45 sqm in total), the kitchen (11 sqm) and the conservatory (31 sqm). In this part is the guest bedroom (17 sqm) with en-suite bathroom. To the right, the ancient renovated cellars descend to the wine cellar (11 sqm) with a lounge (22 sqm) and a toilet. The stairs to the upper private floors are situated above the descent to the cellar.
On the first floor are two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom (16 sqm and 32 sqm), the larger of which has its own dressing room and terrace (13 sqm) with a charming view of Hellich and Nostic Streets. The entire third floor consists of an air-conditioned master bedroom (32 sqm) with bathroom and dressing room. The interior has been recently renovated to preserve the remaining original historical features. The floors and staircase are made of solid oak, as well as the built-in furniture, and the bathrooms are tiled in marble. The kitchen is also very well equipped with Gaggenau appliances and granite worktops.
The plot, enclosed by a perimeter solid wall, is decorated with a park-like green area with mature trees. The terrace and walkways are paved with granite blocks. A generous parking area for up to five cars is located on a portion of the property, screened by a summer kitchen with seating.
It is worth mentioning that in the second half of the 19th century Jindřich Eckert, a well-known and very successful businessman, but above all an excellent photographer of old and disappearing Prague, had his studio in this house. The history of the immediate surroundings is also interesting. Two generations of the Dietzenhofer family, the most important architects of the Illusive Baroque, whose works are among the highlights of Czech and European Baroque architecture, lived in the immediate vicinity in the so-called Aichbauer or Dietzenhofer House.
The unique atmosphere of the surroundings, the genius loci of the Lesser Town, creates an absolutely unique environment for an exceptional life in the most beautiful and oldest district of Prague, which has preserved its original medieval character. Great accessibility to the centre, tram stop a few metres from the house, complete civic amenities in the immediate vicinity.
